I run a CNC machining shop in Dongguan, China. People ask me all the time: who are your competitors, and which ones are actually good? It's a fair question. The China CNC machining landscape is vast and uneven — for every professional shop with proper quality systems, there are ten that are basically a guy with a used VMC in a garage.
This guide covers six China-based CNC machining services that I've seen deliver consistent quality. I'll be honest about where we sit in the lineup and where other shops do better than us.
Ranking criteria
I'm ranking these shops on five things:
- Quality consistency: does part #50 match part #1?
- Communication: English capability, responsiveness, transparency
- Price: total landed cost including shipping
- Specialization: do they excel at anything in particular?
- Scalability: can they handle production quantities, or are they prototype-only?
The 6 best CNC machining services in China (2026)
1. 3ERP — Best overall for Western buyers
3ERP has built the most Western-friendly service layer of any China-based CNC shop. Their English-speaking project managers handle communication, their website and quoting process are professional, and their quality consistency is solid across a wide range of materials and part types.
They're not the cheapest option in China, but they deliver the smoothest experience for buyers who are new to China sourcing. Think of the 10-15% premium over bottom-tier Chinese shops as insurance against communication disasters.
Standout capability: Multi-process manufacturing. They do CNC machining, injection molding, die casting, and 3D printing under one roof. If your project spans multiple processes, 3ERP can manage the whole thing.
Pricing: $$ (moderate for China, still 40-55% below US/EU shops)
Lead time: 5-15 days + shipping
Certifications: ISO 9001
2. RapidDirect — Best for instant online quoting
RapidDirect built a genuine online quoting platform — upload CAD, configure material and finish, get a price in minutes. For straightforward 3-axis aluminum and stainless parts, the system works well and prices are competitive.
They're based in Shenzhen, which puts them in the densest electronics manufacturing cluster on earth. For aluminum enclosures, heat sinks, and electronic packaging components, their local supply chain and experience are hard to beat.
Standout capability: Online instant quote platform. Upload and get pricing without emailing anyone.
Pricing: $$ (moderate for China)
Lead time: 3-10 days + shipping
Certifications: ISO 9001
3. YEYUAN CNC — Best for engineering plastics and production quantities
That's us. We're a direct manufacturer without the platform layer or PM markup. Our angle: engineering plastics expertise and direct communication with the shop floor.
Most China CNC shops don't stock engineering plastics. They buy material per job, which means lead time uncertainty and limited grade knowledge. We stock PEEK, PEI, PI, PPS, PTFE, PFA, PCTFE, PAI, and PVDF in-house. We know how each grade machines because we run them every week, not once a quarter.
For metals, we're competitive on price but not uniquely differentiated from other quality Chinese shops. Our aluminum and stainless work is solid ISO 9001 quality at standard China pricing. For titanium, we have enough experience to quote it confidently but it's not our daily bread.
Standout capability: Engineering plastics (PEEK, PEI, PPS, PTFE, PAI, PVDF) with in-house material stock. Direct shop floor communication.
Pricing: $ (lowest tier — no platform or PM markup)
Lead time: 3-15 days + shipping
Certifications: ISO 9001
Limitations (honest): No AS9100 or ISO 13485. No instant quoting. No multi-process beyond CNC machining. Smaller shop means large-volume surges may affect lead times.
4. Star Rapid — Best for complex and high-precision parts
Star Rapid (formerly Star Prototype) is the premium end of China CNC machining. They're based in Zhongshan, Guangdong, and they've invested heavily in advanced equipment — 5-axis machining, wire EDM, sinker EDM, laser cutting, and quality inspection equipment.
Their pricing is higher than most Chinese shops (still 20-35% below US/EU), reflecting their equipment investment and quality infrastructure. If your part has complex geometries, tight tolerances, or difficult materials, Star Rapid has the machines and the expertise. For simple parts, their pricing premium over other Chinese shops may not pencil out.
Standout capability: Complex geometries, tight tolerances, difficult materials. Advanced in-house inspection.
Pricing: $$$ (premium for China, still below Western pricing)
Lead time: 5-12 days + shipping
Certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 13485 (medical devices)
5. Runsom Precision — Best for responsive small-to-medium batch work
Runsom is a mid-sized Shenzhen shop that's built a reputation for responsive service and consistent quality on small-to-medium production runs (50-2,000 parts). They're not the cheapest and not the most advanced, but they're reliable — which in China sourcing counts for a lot.
Their communication is good. Their quality is consistent. Their pricing is fair for the service level. They're the kind of shop you build a relationship with and keep coming back to because there are no surprises.
Standout capability: Reliable medium-batch production. Consistent quality with low drama.
Pricing: $$ (moderate for China)
Lead time: 7-15 days + shipping
Certifications: ISO 9001
6. Shenzhen Rapid Manufacturing (SRM) — Best budget option for simple parts
If your parts are simple — basic aluminum brackets, spacers, plates with drilled holes — and you're optimizing purely for cost, SRM and similar Shenzhen budget shops can get the job done at the lowest prices in this list.
The tradeoffs: communication can be challenging (limited English, WhatsApp messages at odd hours), quality is adequate but not outstanding, and tolerances beyond ±0.1mm should be called out explicitly and verified on receipt. These shops serve a real market need for low-cost simple parts, but they're not the right choice for complex, tight-tolerance, or regulated work.
Standout capability: Lowest cost for simple parts.
Pricing: $ (lowest in China)
Lead time: 5-15 days + shipping
Certifications: Varies — verify before ordering

How to pick the right shop for your parts
Step 1: Know what matters for this specific part. A PEEK semiconductor component and an aluminum bracket are different sourcing problems. The PEEK part wants a shop that stocks the material and knows how to machine it. The bracket wants the lowest cost for acceptable quality.
Step 2: Decide how much you value communication vs. price. If you're new to China sourcing, pay the 10-20% premium for a shop with good English and professional PM (3ERP or Star Rapid). The premium buys you fewer headaches. If you've sourced from China before and have established quality verification processes, direct shops give you better pricing.
Step 3: Match certifications to requirements. If your part needs ISO 13485, Star Rapid is the only shop on this list that has it. If AS9100 is required, none of these shops qualify — you need a different tier of supplier.
Step 4: Send the same drawing to 2-3 shops. Quote variance tells you a lot. If three shops quote within 15% of each other, the pricing is market-correct. If one shop is 40% below the others, ask why. The answer may be legitimate (they stock the material and the others don't), or it may be a red flag (they didn't read the drawing carefully, or they're cutting corners).
Step 5: Start with a small test order. 5-10 parts in the production material at production tolerances. Inspect them thoroughly. The cost of the test order is small compared to the cost of discovering quality problems on a 500-part production run.
A word on "cheap China parts"
The "China = cheap and low quality" stereotype is about 15 years out of date. The Pearl River Delta now has shops with 5-axis machines, CMM inspection, climate-controlled quality labs, and English-speaking engineers. Those shops charge more than the garage operations, and they deliver quality comparable to good US and European shops.
The price difference between top-tier China shops and US/EU shops is now mostly driven by three things: lower labor costs (operator time, not engineering time), denser supply chains (material, anodizing, and heat treating within 50km instead of 500km), and currency effects. It's structural economics, not quality corner-cutting.
The shops that give China a bad reputation — no quality system, no inspection, no English, no accountability — still exist. They're the ones quoting 70% below everyone else. You get what you pay for, in China as everywhere else.
Bottom line
You have more good options for China CNC machining in 2026 than ever before. The top shops are professional, English-capable, and quality-focused. The differences between them are in specialization and business model, not in basic competence.
We're YEYUAN CNC. We're the right choice if your parts involve engineering plastics, if you're doing production quantities where direct pricing matters, or if you value direct communication with the shop floor. We're not the right choice if you need ISO 13485, AS9100, or one-stop multi-process manufacturing.
Send us your drawing and we'll give you a quote within 24 hours, along with an honest assessment of whether we're the best shop on this list for your specific parts.
