"Simple" = prismatic parts with 1–2 setups, standard tolerances. "Medium" = parts with 3–4 setups, some tight tolerances, pockets and contours. "High" = complex 5-axis geometries, multiple tight tolerances, deep pockets, thin walls, or hard-to-machine materials.
Per-part cost drops as setup and programming costs are spread across more units. The biggest savings jump happens between 10 and 50 pieces.

Per-part cost drops significantly at 50+, 200+, and 1,000+ pieces as setup cost is amortized across the batch.
Standard ±0.1mm is the baseline. ±0.01mm or tighter adds 20–100% due to slower feeds, additional inspection, and higher scrap rates.
Each additional machined face adds a setup operation. One setup costs $50–150 in fixturing and labor. Parts milled from 6 sides cost more than parts made from 2.
Standard alloys like 6061 aluminum and 304 stainless are most economical. Titanium, PEEK, and Inconel add cost through slower cutting speeds and higher tool wear.
As-machined is included. Anodize adds $1–5/part. Hardcoat anodize adds $3–8/part. Bead blast, powder coat, and passivation quoted per job.
